I found this little DIY Stem toy on Amazon and thought it would be a fun project to do with my niece and nephews over google hangout. If I were to do it myself, it would have taken two hours, but with three kids in two locations, it took 8 hours and lots of tears…not mine, I have alcohol. The trick is to make sure the pieces are facing the correct way and connect the legs in the order listed in the instructions (right top, left bottom, right bottom, left top).

Really impressed with the quality of this model! After you get the articulated legs assembled the whole thing goes together fast. I assembled the whole thing in two hours.

A bit tricky, but what a wonderful kit!
I’ve long been a fan of Strandbeests, and on seeing I could build one I jumped for it. The instructions aren’t written very well, but once you get the gist of it things go pretty smoothly; I was able to detach the parts, trim the flash and assemble the little beasty in about an hour. The quality of the plastic is lot better than I expected, and nothing was missing. When you first turn the crankshaft and the legs start to move it’s actually a bit eery.
